The second trimester was probably the most enjoyable this pregnancy. We waited until around 12-14 week ultrasound scan to find out the gender of the embryo. Mom made the trip to come for that appointment, and when we saw that it was a boy, it really was a special moment. From then, our embryo was able to get a name, and talking about him hit a new and fun level. The nausea was cleared up during this trimester, and we just were able to go through the motions of feeling good and excited for what we were growing. Everyone at my job was very supportive, and it felt like we had a whole group of people cheering on his development. As the ultrasounds continued, and he began to look more and more like a baby, we were able to show our children that there was a baby growing inside, and that was fun because they would ask questions and talk about him. I did not feel like I had to tell anyone outside of family and work yet, and it was nice just keeping to ourselves for a little bit before the real showing began. My relationship with mom felt nice and open during this time. I tried to catch all of the new things that was going on, like the first flutter, kick, some cravings I was having. I was the least stressed during this trimester, and it was pretty enjoyable for me. During this time, Mom and I started sending each other the “size” of the baby on our pregnancy apps every Saturday morning. It was a fun little thing we got to do and a nice check in if we hadn’t spoken to each other that week.
