Many of the bumps we experienced were my fault but understanding the extra steps were needed to ensure the best outcome and safety.
I feel like medical clearance was a journey itself but having the help NYSC made it easier. We were told by the clinic that it would still be awhile to be cleared medically and they weren’t lying. We met with the clinic in January 2024 and became medical/psychological cleared November 2024.
In between due to my past pregnancy, I had to be cleared by a high risk maternal doctor, and then a rheumatologist. Once I got cleared by both of them I then had to do a mock cycle and also have a hysteroscopy completed.
Once the results came back we were given the green light to move forward with legal but those months that we had to wait seemed to take forever.
There were hurdles that we had to take that made the medical clearance take longer than expected, especially since we had to wait almost 5 months to get an appointment with the rheumatologist.
Becoming a surrogate has made me learn patience even more but it also gave me more time to think about how I want this journey to go and what I want to come of this.
I am so excited to keep moving forward with this and praying that my intended mom gets that bundle of joy as she has been patiently waiting for!
