The medical and psych clearance was smooth; the psych clearance came first to make sure I was fit for the role and to ensure I was able to give the IP’s child to them, making sure I understood everything about the process and speak to them about either my concerns or future concerns I may have. We also had a psych meeting with the IPs, including my partner, to ensure we were all on the same page and to determine if we had any concerns for the journey ahead. The psychologist asked great questions that the IPs and I might not have thought of, but the answers were the same and made me feel even more comfortable that the IPs and I would work great together. After receiving psych clearance, we were able to move on to medical clearance, which involved numerous steps and patience because, at one point, I had gotten a bad cold and couldn’t make the appointment in Albany because the blood work wouldn’t have come back normal. We drove up after rescheduling the appointment because it needed to be on a certain day of your menstrual cycle. I took the prescription I was sent from the clinic to prevent any infections from the procedure they would be performing. After checking to see what they needed to see and my blood drawn, I was sent on my way! A couple of weeks later, I was cleared.
