My journey to surrogacy is a bit different than most.  I was in the process of becoming a surrogate for a close friend when some unexpected health complications arose for her, and she decided to put an end to our journey.  We had already gone thru getting medical, psychological, and legal clearance and the next step was transfer.  I was sad when our journey ended but decided I deeply wanted to help someone grow their family, but I wasn’t sure if I could because of my age (ripe age of 47 here).

My lawyer suggested that I reach out to NYSC, and I did just that.  I had to fill out a questionnaire to see if I qualified, which I did and then I had phone call with Joe to discuss the process.  Joe told me that he would need to contact the fertility clinic that my friend and I were going to work with to see if they would be willing to still work with me and they are.  So, we began the process of filling out the application, background checks, drug tests, OBGYN clearance, release of medical records and so many other things.  You are basically sharing everything about you and your life with NYSC.   Joe and his team are amazing at keeping up you updated of where you are in the process and helping things to move along.

I recently zoomed with Joe to talk about next steps, and I can’t wait for my Profile to be viewed.  The next step for me is matching with someone but that’s a post for another day.
