Screening Process

A Look Inside Psychological Clearance

About a week after our official match, our assigned LCSW reached out to both myself and the IFs to introduce themselves and offer to either discuss the process or send over the initial screening packet with the understanding that we could reach out with any questions. We all opted for the latter. The packet contained Demographics Form, Criminal Affidavits for each adult in my household, Financial Resource Summary, Beck's Depression Inventory, Hamilton Anxiety Scale, PDQ-4+ Personality Questionnaire, Personal History Questionnaire, and a couple of signed releases for the LCSW to discuss findings with NYSC, my IFs, and a third party

It all Started with a Quiz!

Hello everyone! My name is Miranda, I am single mom of an adventurous 4-year-old boy. My son was a complete surprise and a total blessing. I was the person who enjoyed being pregnant. My labor was fairly easy and uneventful. I had thought about surrogacy after having my son. I discussed it with his dad (my now ex) and we decided it was not right for us. In my heart, I still wanted to do it. As a part of the LGBTQ community, I know how difficult it can be to start a family. And I had a strong desire

Wow, first of all lets take a moment to celebrate the decision to become a surrogate! This is such a big thing and a point to start celebrating yourself.  So first things first, you’ve now made the choice and hopefully all of your research has landed you to a great agency so you can get started. So I’m going to take you along the beginning process I went through with New York Surrogacy Agency.  First I had set up a time to speak with Joe who is the main point of contact for surrogates so that I could ask questions

The Surrogacy Screening/Application Process

For me, this Journey began when an ad popped up on my Facebook page labeled “become a surrogate today, which was the first step in working with NYSC! I have known people within my circle who have become surrogates and decided to take the quiz. Not long after I was contacted via phone by a company that manages to get your profile out to prospective companies like New York Surrogacy Center. Soon after, I had multiple offers from several companies. After having a conversation with my spouse, we decided New York Surrogacy Center was the best match for us. New

Pre-Screening Process and Decision to Help

“So, for me, this Journey began before the screening and application phase, which is the first step in working with NYSC! I have known people throughout my life who struggled with fertility seeing how heartbreaking it was I decided while still in my teens that I would help if given the chance. Then after my husband and I had our 2 amazing kids, I brought up the idea to my husband of becoming a surrogate. He always knew it was something I considered, but he said he never really expected that I would actually go after it. He was NOT

Medical & Psychological Screening

We are all matched up and ready for medical & psychological screening. Here it begins... Honestly, it terrified me a tad bit. I wasn't worried about anything coming up that I couldn't handle, but I was nervous about actually completing a psych evaluation for the first time. I mean, we all think we are a little crazy sometimes right? No. Just me? Ok. Moving on. It took a little bit of time to get scheduled with my OB for medical clearance. It didn't help that I was still fairly new to the state and the pandemic delayed my scheduled yearly check

My Application and Pre-screening Process

My name is Krystal.  I am 31 years old and I'm a bit of a #birthjunkie.  Pregnancy and birth have fascinated me since before I could read, and I’ve wanted to be a surrogate for as long as I can remember.  After a wonderful pregnancy, delivery of our daughter, and deciding our family was complete, I got myself into countless surrogacy info/chat groups on social media.  The lurking began.  I immersed myself in the lingo, the agency reviews, the anecdotes, the miracles, the tragedies--all of it.  I wasn't in a huge rush because my kiddo was still nursing at night

Pre-screening and Application

My name is Nikki. I am a mother of two (under 5) and married to my bestfriend. Since my last born in 2019 I have been researching GS. I loved being pregnant and we as a family are whole, so for me Surrogacy was a no-brainer! I love to help others and what better way to help then to help another family become whole. To become a surrogate it is suggested to do a lot of research before taking the plunge. Which I did. (Since having my son in 2019!) There are also a ton of Facebook groups to join

Matching with Intended Parents

I've never actually experienced online dating before, but I love to describe my matching process with NY Surrogacy Center as the closest I've been to it. I'm not proud to admit this, but I imagined this part of my journey with any agency feeling more like a business transaction. I assumed there was a long questionnaire that would put me into a pool of couples that were eager to have me. It's not the experience I wanted, so I was obviously happy to be wrong. Once In-Take and Pre-Screening were complete, I was excited to move to the next step. Matching. I

The Surrogate Application and Screening Process

My name is Britney Herringhsaw. I'm a 32 year old mum first, wife second and I have longed for this very opportunity to help another family bring life into theirs. I was born in the UK and lived in Florida for many years. Many of those years, Surrogacy has been on my mind. After moving to Upstate New York 3 years ago and learning that Surrogacy was a tough possibility here, I never thought for a second that the process in becoming a Surrogate would be this indescribable. You see, before NYSC and also before Covid showed its face, I actually
