Third Trimester

This trimester has been so fast moving. More doctor appointments. Planning the birth. Getting all the details together. It has been amazing. My third trimester has been great. I was deep in this trimester throughout Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I worked up until I was 38 weeks. In the third trimester the IPs were able to come to more appointments and we became closer. As we got the final paperwork done for the parentage and adoption portion for dad number 2. We were also able to work on the hospital birthing plan. It was relieving to know we were

First Trimester

After the HCG levels were confirmed pregnant, I had an ultrasound done around 6 weeks which a gestational sack was found and then another ultrasound at 8 weeks which a heartbeat was confirmed and a baby was seen for the first time! For the first trimester it was much different than when I was pregnant with my son. I had different sets of cravings (pizza!) and different symptoms. I didn’t want to eat much as nothing, but pizza sounded good. I was tired more often than not but walking a lot to remain active. I developed a uterus bleed externally

The Second Trimester

As I went from the first to second trimester I was hopeful that the morning sickness would subside. It took another 4 weeks for it to go away. Little girls are no joke. 20 weeks at the anatomy  scan and the intended dads were able to drive over. It was a magical scene watching them see their daughter. Counting toes and getting amazing profile pictures. At 24 weeks they did a repeat ultrasound because little one was curled up and they couldn’t see everything they needed to. The intended dads came back and got more beautiful pictures. I figured out she

Embryo Transfer Process

After all clearances were issued, we were then good to go to start the embryo transfer process. This started off with tracking my period and communicating with the clinic to determine when to start the injections and wean off birth control. I took an injection teaching class offered by the fertility clinic that gave clear instructions as I self-administered the injections. I was nervous to self-administer but after a couple times it became easier. It started with 3 weeks of Lupron injections in the lower abdomen along with rotating estrogen patches By the end of this I was wearing

The First Trimester

After the shots, bloodwork, and doctors, I got the big positive result we all hoped for. My first ultrasound was scheduled to confirm a heartbeat. I went in when I was 7 weeks and 3 days. The intended dads were able to be there in person and witness their daughter’s heartbeat. It was strong. My first trimester was a world different than when I was pregnant with my keeper. The morning sickness hit me hard. Thankfully that was the worst of it. I graduated from the IVF Clinic to my OBGYN. As I went to those appointments, they did the

Pregnancy: Month 2

Month 2 has flown by. The heartburn finally kicked in so I had to start watching what I ate or enjoy and endure. I had the morning sickness feeling but never actually became sick. That was a huge blessing. Most of the medication I had been on, I continued. I will tell you I was counting down the days to be done with some of them. I continued regular check in for ultrasounds and bloodwork. It was always fun seeing the little heartbeat during the ultrasound even though we could not hear it. All bloodwork was coming back great! My

Pregnancy: Month 1

After the transfer, we all traveled home. It was 3 days later we decided to take an at home pregnancy test. The test came back positive! The lines were very bright and appeared very quickly. We were so excited. My intended parent asked if I would take a digital pregnancy test just to confirm. Of course I was more than happy to do so! The following day I picked up the test and took it that night and it also came back positive! We couldn’t wait for our appointment to confirm. Seemed like it took forever to arrive. With all

Pregnancy: Month 9

November 1st I went back to the specialist for an Ultrasound and a stress test. My fluid level went from a normal range of 24 to 41 which is quite a significant jump. Here we are at the hard parts again because you want to keep trusting that your body is doing what it has always done so well, which is keep a baby safe in the womb, and to continue to grow it healthy and strong until it’s ready to come naturally.. but it’s NOT my baby. So as much as I’d love to keep growing this baby until HE

Pregnancy: Month 8

Happy Halloween. I've always wanted to make a pumpkin out of my bump and this is a FIRST. It's been a WILD month for sure. We hadn't had an ultrasound since the 18 week anatomy scan and at the first ultrasound since then we're told my amniotic fluid was on the "higher" side. My OB suggested that we go back to the same specialist that did our anatomy ultrasound to make sure there isn't anything she wasn't picking up on at my appointments with her. So off to the specialist we go. Nothing appeared to be wrong with the baby, however,
