Delivery & Post-Birth

Eventually, the big day came, and surrobaby was ready for induction at 40 weeks + 2 days. My own pregnancy went to 42 weeks, so I was very comfortable with the plan to induce, and I was very much ready for him to come out, as he was almost measuring 9lbs and I was extremely sleep deprived. Intended mom came to my house the afternoon that we were to get checked into the hospital. We had dinner together, hung out with her family, who also came up, and then we all made our way to get ready for the birth.

The Delivery & Post-Birth Process

For me, December 10, 2024, will forever be a date filled with magic. The experience was something I’m so grateful for and I will cherish those magical moments for the rest of my life, as we introduced a precious new life into this world. As life goes, we had to contend with a few complications, including gestational diabetes. As a result, the doctors decided we needed to induce labor and December 10 was the date it was to happen. The day we found this out, I spent about an hour on the phone with the intended mother, where we both

The Arrival of Baby M: A Journey of Strength and Joy

On Monday, April 22, 2024, at 38 weeks and 5 days, I started experiencing contractions. Initially 90 minutes apart, they were distinct enough to recognize. Along with contractions, I had bouts of diarrhea and vomiting, prompting me to call my OB for advice. They recommended monitoring my symptoms and advised heading to the hospital if they progressed. By evening, the contractions had intensified, so I headed to the hospital where Amber and the intended mom met me. After being triaged, monitored, and tested, it was determined that I was only 2 cm dilated, and I was advised to return home.

Delivery & Post-Birth!

My OB allowed me to be scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks so that we could appropriately plan for the parents to be here. Labor was pretty intense, but made it to 6cm dilation before I requested an epidural. My husband and the IP’s were in the room the entire time. They started Pitocin at 8:30am and by 12:00pm, baby girl made her arrival. OMG!! It was a beautiful moment!!! It’s something about the end of something that makes you reflect on the entirety of the journey. I was so happy but sad at the same time. I was

Recovery Period

After birth comes the recovery / postpartum period. I did find this to be more challenging than expected. While the birth was the same as my first (natural with stitches), I feel as though the recovery is longer and dragging to feel 100%. The restrictions also made it a bit of a challenge (no driving, no lifting, no housework etc.) It also felt weird not having a newborn to occupy my time. I’m a person that always needs something to do and sitting around doing nothing left plenty of time to think. I found myself the first few days /

My oh my isn’t Surrogacy a beautiful thing! My Belly Buddy made it safely into the arms of the most deserving parents on Nov 4th, shortly after his 10:57am arrival at 7lbs 4oz. Beautiful parents that have made it through many years of grief, loss and waiting to be on THIS side of their story! I’m extremely grateful to the New York Surrogacy Center for bringing this precious couple into my life. They navigated our entire journey and made it possible for me to help them grow their family.
