When I first decided to become a gestational carrier, I’ll admit, I was nervous. With three children of my own, I wasn’t sure what to expect or how challenging (or easy) the journey would be. Thankfully, I connected with NYSC, and they’ve truly been a guiding force throughout this process. From the start, they’ve been incredibly thorough, providing me with all the information I need to navigate the next steps.
After completing my application and receiving the green light to move forward, gathering the necessary information was much simpler than I expected. I easily scheduled appointments with my local doctor for the required pap smear, STD screening, and drug test. Once all the paperwork was submitted and approved by the agency, the next step was getting clearance from my OB, confirming that I was “clear for takeoff!”
Once everything was in place, I had a Zoom call with Joe for a home visit. During our conversation, he walked me through the remaining steps and helped me understand what to expect moving forward. While I know this is a journey that will take time, I’m feeling more than ready to take it on. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
