Waiting for Joe to send me profiles of Intended Parents felt like waiting for Christmas morning when I was a child.  I got that email from Joe that said, “Potential Match” and I could not wait to open the email and look over the profile.  Reading all about this amazing couple made me get even more excited about this potential journey.  I quickly sent Joe an email stating yes, I 100% am open to scheduling a match meeting.  Then we sent our availability, and we were set with a date 2 weeks in the future.

The process of waiting to meet this couple made me wonder if this is how it felt to match with someone on a dating site.  My husband and I have been together for almost 22 years, so we never experienced online dating.  The date finally arrived, and I was as excited as I was nervous.  I don’t know that it ever took longer for 5:30 in the afternoon to arrive on a Thursday.

We nervously waited for the Zoom Meeting to start, and Joe started things off having us introduce ourselves and talk a little bit about our whys for surrogacy.  The Intended Parents went first, and it was heart-warming hearing about their journey so far.  Then it came time for us to talk and being the chatty one that I am, I couldn’t wait to share my reason why I was brought to surrogacy.  I even got a little choked up talking about being able to help someone have a family.

The meeting went very smoothly.  There were no awkward silences and the couple reminded me very much of myself and my husband.  One was very outgoing and the other softer spoken much like us.  After the meeting, we got a message from Joe telling us to take some time and think things over and let him know what our thoughts were.  I quickly responded that there was nothing to think about and we were ready to move forward.    I anxiously waited to hear if they liked me and my husband and wanted to forward too.

We found out 4 days later on a Monday morning that they liked us to and we officially “MATCHED”.    Next steps are medical and psychological clearance but that’s a post for another day.
