I am currently halfway through my third trimester, at 33.5 weeks. We’ve had some recent setbacks, as I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It’s been pretty frustrating because I am doing everything they instruct, and my sugars are still all over the place. This is very new to me, as I did not have it with my two children. We’re still working on controlling the sugars and the baby and I are monitored very closely now, with weekly appointments.
The IPs will be coming up in a couple of weeks to attend another ultrasound in person. We’re all looking forward to that. My partner and kids have been great through this process, I am so thankful for their support. Baby girl is VERY active and we have fun watching my stomach move all over the place, looking like a
scene from a horror movie.
If anyone is considering being a surrogate, three things I would tell them are:1) Caring and loving for a child you’re carrying, while understanding it isn’t your baby to keep, is a very interesting journey. You will experience emotions you’ve never experienced before. Seeing the joy on the IPs faces when we got the confirmation of pregnancy was something I will never forget.
2) Remember that no pregnancy is the same. You are on a journey, expect ups, downs, and the unexpected.
3) I encourage anyone who is seriously considering taking this journey, to do it. It is hard, yes. But it is rewarding to know you’re helping someone add to their family. You can be a miracle maker!
We celebrated Halloween and my partner and I had some fun with the costumes!
